The Rules Of The Ladder

Ladder Overview:
Each match will be played on a single map. The map is chosen by the challenging team. The defending team chooses which side they wish to play in the first round. After that round has ended the teams switch sides and restart the map. In case of overtime, the defending team chooses their side. Once a match has been completed, the losing team has 24 hours to report the match. All information must be accurate or the team will be penalized.
  • Game Type Must be CTF
  • 30 Minute Game Time (Adjustable up to 40 minutes only to allow for a 15 minute warm-up)
  • 10 Flag Cap Limit
  • Must Have Suitable Pings for All Players
  • Party Must Be Private
  • First half is hosted by Defending team, Second half by Challenging team, and any overtime will be hosted by Defending team.

Fallen Empire: Legions 5v5 CTF is played with both teams having 5 players. If one team does not have at least 4 players, the opposing team may allow them to play. A screenshot of the agreement would be necessary in case of dispute.

All players competing in the match must be listed as eligible on the roster. If a member has joined the week of the match, they are not Eligible until the following week regardless of whether it says they are Eligible or not. Weeks begin on Monday in regards to this rule.

Substitute Players
Substitutes of members that are on their clan ROSTER are allowed. Furthermore, substitutions may be made at any time during the game. In the case of a substitution, the member that is being subbed OUT must leave the game PRIOR to when the member subbing IN arrives into the game. This prevents unbalanced teams during a substitution. As repeated, subs may only be allowed from members on THE ROSTER ONLY. Before a substitute joins the game, the leader must announce to everyone playing that a substitution is occurring.

Legal Players
It is each team's responsibility before the match starts to see that all players are legally registered on each teams roster. After match start or completion, roster disputes are not valid justification for forfeiture or admin intervention. Substitute players, brought in during match, that are not eligible players by the above criteria, will force an immediate forfeiture of the current round on the part of the team they were playing for.

Server Host
The game will be played in two rounds. The first round will be hosted by the Defending team. The second round will be hosted by the Challenging team unless the Challenging team agrees to not host. Pings on the host must be acceptable for both teams. An agreement must be reached between both teams for each half or the match will be cancelled.

Scoring
A round is over when one team hits 10 flag caps or the time limit has been reached. At the end of the second round, the combined scores of the first and second round become the final score. In case of a tie, overtime will begin.

Match Starting
At the beginning of a match there will be a 5 minute warm-up time for the teams to utilize. If both teams are ready prior to the 25:00 minute mark you may begin early. The minimum amount of time a match can be played in is 25:00 minutes. If more time is needed, both teams may agree to restart the map to allow for a longer warm-up time. Both teams will be confirmed ready once the Leader/Captain of each team said "Ready" in public chat. After which, everyone on each team must suicide (default Ctrl+K) and when they respawn it is now live and everyone may begin playing.

In-Game Chat Rules
Only the team Leader/Captain may be allowed to use the public chat. All Taunt voice commands are prohibited during a match game unless the two team leaders agree to allow it beforehand.

Sudden Death - Overtime
In the event of a tied final score, Overtime will begin. The time limit is set to "No Limit" and Score Limit reduced to 1. Overtime will end when one team has scored once. The defending team chooses which side they wish to play in Overtime and will also be the host of the match. There are no draws, a winner must be found. If a team cannot finish Overtime, they forfeit the round to the other team and that team is the winner of the match.

Challenging
Challenges must be made to teams within your points range. If the team is more than 951 points difference from you, you may not challenge them. This is to prevent point tanking. Point tanking is when a team has a rating high enough to where if they win they gain no points, but if they lose they lose the maximum points. Each team must be eligible for points gain for a match to be accepted. If a team accepts a challenge from a team out of their points difference, they are required to play the match. It is the team's responsibility to check the ratings of every challenger.

Rescheduling
Should a match require rescheduling, the new match time should be within 3 days of the original match time. Matches can only be rescheduled once. Mutual consent between opponents is required.

Smurf Policy
Smurfing is signing up for more than one team (or the same team) on the same ladder, most commonly under a different name. It is also the act of playing for a team you are not registered to play for, under a false identity.
The ELL website has a system in place to make smurfing difficult. However, if a player is caught smurfing the offending team will be reset to 0 wins 0 losses and a rating of 1000. If the team was below 1000 rating, they will be removed from the ladder and may sign up again. The offending player will be banned from ELL for the remainder of the season as well as the following season.

Hacking, Cheating and Exploiting
ELL has a zero tolerance policy regarding Game Hacking, Cheating and Exploiting. Indisputable proof is required for a cheating dispute to be acted upon by the ELL Staff. This rule covers players who manipulate a particular aspect of the game for the purpose of gaining an unfair advantage over other teams and players. Wallhacks, speedhacks and aimbots are just examples of the types of cheats covered by this rule. There is no excuse for using Hacks, Cheats or Exploits; matches are not the place to "test" them out.

Circumventing your ban, either by creating new accounts, or smurfing as another player will result in the player(s) being Permanently banned from ELL.

ELL will support any team that wishes to police themselves of hackers and cheaters. In the case where a team removes a hacker/cheater/exploiter from their ranks and brings it to the attention of the ELL staff, the punishment will be ignored and the team will be able to continue competing in the ladder. The team will still have to forfeit the match that the cheater was discovered in.
